BMedSc Student attends Intensive Care Medicine Conference in Prato

Prato Conference

Simon Landes recently attended the Collaborative Clinical Trials in Intensive Care Medicine Conference at the Monash University Prato Centre in Italy.  Hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC), the conference brought together some of the leading international researchers on Intensive Care Medicine in order to foster international cooperation and collaboration.

Simon explained, “It was fascinating to hear about some of the issues that are considered key questions in intensive care medicine currently and for the future.  I was also able to network with clinicians from around the world in an area of medicine I'm in interested in, and seek to make a career in.”

In 2012, Simon completed an Honours Degree Bachelor of Medical Science with the ANZIC-RC, investigating the use of diffusion tensor imaging for prognosticating long-term functional outcomes in patients with severe traumatic brain injuries. The Monash University BMedSc program provides medical students with an opportunity to take a break from clinical learning and experience an introduction to medical research and develop essential critical thinking and analytical skills.
