Lahn Straney Presents at 24th Annual Congress of ESPNIC

Dr Lahn Straney (DEPM Research Fellow) presented at the 24th Annual Congress of the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC) in Rotterdam from June 12-15. ESPNIC is the largest meeting of paediatric intensive care doctors and nurses in the world.  Lan's presentation titled “PIM3: an updated model for predicting mortality in paediatric intensive care” detailed a revised algorithm for predicting the probability of death among children in ICU. The paediatric index of mortality (PIM) is the mostly widely used tool for assessing mortality risk among children admitted to ICU and the conference provided an excellent opportunity to speak with intensivists and other clinicians about how to best apply it in their setting. After the conference Lahn's travels included Amsterdam, Berlin and Barcelona.
