Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT)

3MT competition

How do you condense years of complex research into a three minute presentation that is interesting for a general audience?  That’s the challenge for graduate research candidates entering the 3MT competition, which is being held at universities in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the South Pacific.  The 3MT competition involves presenting a compelling speech using only one PowerPoint slide (no slide transitions permitted) on a thesis topic to an intelligent but non-specialist audience, in just 3 minutes.

Entrants first compete in the School round,  with winners progressing through to the Faculty round, then the Monash 3MT final.   The Monash 3MT winner will then  represent the university at the transnational final, to be held this year at the University of Western Sydney.

SPHPM had four entrants in the School final:  Anna Wilkinson, Danielle Horyniak, Monira Hussain, and Tilahun Nigatu. The judges' scores were very close,  but the eventual winner was Danielle.   Congratulations to all for their entertaining and interesting presentations!
