There could be a link between levels of air pollution and cardiac arrest, a new study has found.
An increase in particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns (PM2.5) was correlated with a more than 10 per cent increase in the risk of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, the study showed.

Bridging the gap between research and practice. Could social media be the missing link?
The purpose of all clinical research should be to improve outcomes,
yet unless this research is effectively translated into practice by clinicians,
even the largest studies can become useless.
Professor Malcolm Sim wins the Dean’s Award for Excellence in External Engagement

the Dean’s Award for Excellence in External Engagement for his valuable work
with a variety of national and international organisations These include the
Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service
Authorities Council, the Defence Health Foundation and Safe Work Australia. He is also on the Australian Institute for
Health and Welfare’s Human Research Ethics Committee.
